HOW TO OBTAIN AN APPOINTMENT / THE FIRST CONSULTATION / DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS


Admission

You will be admitted to Level 3, in the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Clydebank. Admission is on Monday, with discharge planned on Friday.

 

If you live a long distance from Glasgow, or are unable to travel by public or private transport, arrangements will be made to transport you to the hospital and home again.

 

If you currently take a drug called Warfarin, you will be asked to stop this prior to admission.

  • Blood tests
  • ECG
  • Chest x ray
  • Echocardiogram
  • VQ Scan
  • Pulmonary Function Tests
  • 6 Minute Walk Test
  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test
  • MRI scan
  • HRCT / CTPA scans
  • Right Heart Catheterisation
  • Pulmonary Angiogram

 

Diagnosis

Your tests are completed by Thursday afternoon. Following a complete review of the results, the SPVU team, led by the Consultant will visit you on the ward. If you are happy to do so, we would encourage you to have a family member present at this time.
